Ministry / Support

The core of my ministry is to convey grace and truth in Jesus Christ

The core of my ministry is to convey grace and truth in Jesus Christ  – both for the unbeliever and the believer. In practice this takes many forms: maybe the most well-known is the prison ministry in different countries, but my ministry includes a great variety of venues and media forms. It could be a concert hall, church, seminar/teaching, drug rehab center, mentoring situation, podcast, music video, interview, radio program, music studio or the like. During the years I have been enabled to find a wealth of channels to use for communicating Jesus.

…music has opened doors and hearts that otherwise could have been tightly closed

The fact that music is a big part of my ministry also brings some extra costs to the table because of technical requirements etc., but on the other hand it has clearly been shown that music has opened doors and hearts that otherwise could have been tightly closed. We have seen so many lives that have changed, eyes that glow with the presence of Jesus that I feel highly privileged to be able to continue the work as long as it is in the will of the Lord.

…there are always more opportunities to witness of Jesus than one would think…

In the year 2001 I started prison ministry, first in Russia (prior to that I had been working for 10 years in different countries in the west). To this day I have worked in prison settings in Russia, Ukraine, Finland, the Baltic countries, the Balkan, Israel, Kyrgystan, Nepal, Holland and Canada.

We invariably work with a local prison ministry or church – this for many reasons: to ensure continuation in discipling (new) believers, because of security and practical arrangements, plus: it is just so good to work together in fellowship and input from other seasoned ministers. Experience and life in Christ is shared both ways. Further, there are always more opportunities to witness of Jesus than one would think: the personnel in prisons, people working within accommodation services, and many other ‘unplanned’ encounters. Usually when we visit a city/country I try to do multiple things: the live event venues (church, prison etc), media, as well as mentoring/teaching and networking.

This work is constantly in a dynamic state of development as new ways to convey the Good News open

Nowadays my team on these trips consists of a musician from Finland and a sound engineer from Latvia plus a local team that usually also includes an interpreter.

We have gotten favor with prison administration in many countries and there is a lot of work to do. This work is constantly in a dynamic state of development as new ways to convey the Good News open to me and my team. One example is the increasing amount of media work.

Every human being, no matter what circumstance they are in, is created in the image of God and thus immensely valuable. And at the same time, as the Bible says, every human being on the face of the earth has committed sin and is in dire need of forgiveness and redemption. Jesus is this redeemer and now it is possible to find that purpose and direction for one’s life, the one that God had in mind for us when he first created us. When people are born again and lives start to change, that truly is also changing the environment. I have seen this with my own eyes.

When people are born again and lives start to change, that truly is also changing the environment. I have seen this with my own eyes.

This group of people that support me and my team in what we do for the advancement of God’s Kingdom, is primarily called to pray for us and the people we meet and the circumstances we are in. I am inviting you to join this group by contacting us through the form below.

We want to keep you updated about what is happening and what the plans for the ministry are.

In Christ,

Nina Åström
